Mit \u00fcber 23 Millionen Alben weltweit hatte er einen immensen Einfluss auf die musikalische Nachwelt, der nun posthum nachhallt. \u201eThanks For The Dance\u201c enth\u00e4lt Aufnahmen, die aus der Zeit vor Leonard Cohens Tod im November 2016 stammen und nun zur Ver\u00f6ffentlichung kommen. Sieben Monate nach dem Tod seines Vaters zog sich Adam Cohen in eine umgebaute Garage in seinem Hinterhof in der N\u00e4he von Leonards Haus zur\u00fcck, um wieder mit seinem Vater zusammenzuarbeiten und in Gesellschaft seiner Stimme zu sein. Das bemerkenswerte neue Album entstand an einer Vielzahl von Orten. Javier Mas, der gro\u00dfe spanische Laudist, der Leonard w\u00e4hrend seiner achtj\u00e4hrigen Tournee auf der B\u00fchne begleitet hatte, flog von Barcelona nach Los Angeles, um den Geist des K\u00fcnstlers auf Leonards eigener Gitarre einzufangen. In Berlin lud Adam bei der Musikveranstaltung \u201ePeople Festival\u201c einige Freunde und Mitstreiter ein, an dem Album mitzuwirken. Damien Rice und Leslie Feist sangen. Richard Reed Parry von Arcade Fire spielte Bass. Bryce Dessner von The National spielte Gitarre, Komponist Dustin O\u2019Halloran ist am Klavier zu h\u00f6ren. Der Berliner Chor Cantus Domus sang und das S t a r g a z e Orchester spielte. In Montreal schaute der ber\u00fchmte Produzent Daniel Lanois bei den Sessions vorbei und steuerte auf wunderbare Weise seine sp\u00e4rlichen Arrangements bei. Der Shaar Hashomayim-Chor, der einen so wichtigen Teil der Entstehung des Sounds des letzten Albums spielte, trug zu einem Song bei, und Patrick Watson brachte sein unnachahmliches Talent als Koproduzent in einen Song ein. Zur\u00fcck in Los Angeles sang Jennifer Warnes, eine der H\u00fcterinnen von Leonards kreativer Flamme, Background Vocals, Beck spielte Gitarre und Maultrommel. Michael Chaves, der das Album \u201eYou Want It Darker\u201c so elegant aufgenommen und abgemischt hatte, \u00fcbernahm das Engineering und Abmischen.<\/p>\n

On September 20, Cohen’s musical estate will be announced with the track „The Goal“ – the first pre-music from the brand-new album „Thanks For The Dance“, which will be released on November 22nd.<\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The longplayer contains recordings from the time before Leonard Cohen’s death in November 2016 and are now being released. Seven months after his father’s death, Adam Cohen retired to a converted garage in his backyard near Leonard’s house to reunite with his father and be in the company of his voice. From her previous collaboration on „You Want It Darker“ remained some musical sketches, often just vocals. Leonard had asked his son to complete this work.<\/p>\n

The remarkable new album was created in a variety of locations. Javier Mas, the great Spanish laudist who had accompanied Leonard on stage during his eight-year tour, flew from Barcelona to Los Angeles to capture the artist’s spirit on Leonard’s own guitar. In Berlin invited Adam at the music event „People Festival“ some friends and fellow campaigners to participate in the album. Damien Rice and Leslie Feist sang. Richard Reed Parry of Arcade Fire played bass. Bryce Dessner from The National played the guitar, composer Dustin O’Halloran can be heard on the piano. The Berlin choir Cantus Domus sang and the S t a r g a z e orchestra played. In Montreal, the famous producer Daniel Lanois stopped by the sessions and miraculously contributed to his sparse arrangements. The Shaar Hashomayim Choir, who played such an important part in creating the sound of the previous album, contributed to a song, and Patrick Watson brought his inimitable talent as a co-producer into a song. Back in Los Angeles, Jennifer Warnes, one of Leonard’s creative flame guardians, sang background vocals and Beck played guitar and Jew’s harp. Michael Chaves, who had so elegantly recorded and mixed the album „You Want It Darker“, did the engineering and mixing.<\/p>\n
