The original MAC Montreal exhibition opened on October 24th and will be on display until April 13th, 2020. Media and VIP guests were invited for a private viewing on October 23rd already. Among the guests were all contributing artist, George Fok, Kara Blake, Ari Folman, Candice Breitz to name just a few of them, as well as John Zeppetelli from the MAC in Montreal and Robert Kory, representing the Cohen estate.

Copenhagen basically shows the same installations as New York City did, which one major difference: in Copenhagen the exhibition is split between two venues, the GL Strand Kunstforeningen and the Nikolaj Kunsthal. The venues are a mere 4 minutes walk apart and it is a nice walk, lined with cafes and restaurants and across a square where street musicians play the respective music.

New is also that George Fok’s installation “Passing Through” is represented twice. The original size version can be seen in the Nikolaj Kunsthal, which how fittingly is an old church which burned down and was never used as a church ever since. After its use as a library it ended up as an art gallery. The GL Strand Kunstforeningen hosts a smaller, more intimate version which is reduced to projections on one wall only.

The “18 Old Men singing I’m Your Man” instanallation by Candice Breitz also found its place in the old church. One of the 18 men, Fergus Keyes, came all the way from Montreal to participate in the opening.

The long wait is over.
