Mit \u201eOld Ideas\u201c ver\u00f6ffentlicht Leonard Cohen am 27. Januar 2012 sein erstes Studioalbum seit acht Jahren. Die zehn neuen Songs des mit Spannung erwarteten Albums stellen mit Sicherheit einen H\u00f6hepunkt im Schaffen des einflussreichen Singer\/Songwriters und Literaten dar.<\/p>\n

Obgleich die eigentlichen Aufnahmen zu \u201eOld Ideas\u201c erst im Januar 2011 begannen, arbeitete Cohen bereits seit Jahren an den Songs und Texten. Zwei der St\u00fccke, \u201eThe Darkness\u201c und \u201eLullaby\u201c, wurden bereits 2007 aufgenommen, und fr\u00fche Versionen waren im Rahmen der vor kurzem zu Ende gegangenen, ausverkauften Welttournee zu h\u00f6ren.<\/p>\n

Einige Hinweise, was die Fans von dem neuen Album erwarten k\u00f6nnen, gab der 77-j\u00e4hrige Kanadier bereits im Oktober 2011 in Oviedo im Rahmen der diesj\u00e4hrigen \u201ePrinz von Asturien\u201c-Preisverleihung. Leonard Cohen hatte dort die h\u00f6chste spanische Literatur-Auszeichnung erhalten. \u201eMit dem \u00c4lterwerden begriff ich, dass mit dieser Stimme auch Instruktionen einhergehen. Und diese Anweisungen lauten\u2026 jammere niemals einfach nur so. Doch sollte jemand jene gro\u00dfe, unausweichliche Niederlage, die uns alle irgendwann erwartet, zum Ausdruck bringen m\u00fcssen, so sollte dies stets innerhalb der strikten Regeln der W\u00fcrde und Sch\u00f6nheit geschehen.\u201c<\/p>\n

Das Album wurde von Patrick Leonard, Anjani Thomas, Ed Sanders und Dino Soldo produziert. Cohen wird dabei von prominenten Background-S\u00e4ngerinnen wie Dana Glover, Sharon Robinson, den Webb Sisters und Jennifer Warnes begleitet. Das Coverdesign und alle Zeichnungen im Booklet stammen von Leonard Cohen selbst.<\/p>\n
