Das lange Warten hat sich gelohnt. Der 1. M\u00e4rz 2020 war die letzte Auff\u00fchrung von \u201eLeonard Cohen – Ich bin ein Hotel, Lieder der Liebe und des Hasses\u201c. Die Installation von Pit Holzwarth, Direktor der Musikabteilung von L\u00fcbecks Theater, ist eine gelungene Mischung aus Cohens Poesie und Musik gelungen, die in eine Erz\u00e4hlung seines Lebens eingewoben ist. W\u00e4hrend die Texte ins Deutsche \u00fcbersetzt wurden, wurden alle Songs in ihrer englischen Originalversion aufgef\u00fchrt. Auch nicht so bekannte St\u00fccke wie „Don’t pass me by“ oder „Going home“ fanden ihren Weg in die Produktion, die am 6. Juni 2015 er\u00f6ffnet wurde – als Leonard Cohen noch lebte.<\/p>\n

Seitdem ist das St\u00fcck im Winter wieder im Programm des Theaters aufgetaucht, wenn auch nur mit einer Handvoll Auff\u00fchrungen. Aufgrund der Standing Ovations und des tobenden Applaus nach der letzten geplanten Auff\u00fchrung am 1. M\u00e4rz 2020 sollte Hoffnung auf eine weitere Runde in der n\u00e4chsten Saison bestehen.<\/p>\n

The long wait has started again. March 1st<\/sup> marked the last performance of \u201cLeonard Cohen \u2013 I am a Hotel, Songs of Love and Hate\u201d. The installation by Pit Holzwarth, director of L\u00fcbeck\u2019s theater\u2019s music department is a well done mix of Cohen\u2019s poetry and music woven into a narration of his life. Whereas the lyrics have been translated into German, all songs are performed in their original English versions. Also not so wellknown pieces like \u201cDon\u2019t pass me by\u201d or \u201cGoing home\u201d found their way into the production, which had it\u2019s opening night on June 6, 2015 \u2013 when Leonard Cohen was still alive.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since then the play has reoccurred in the theater\u2019s program ever winter, if only with a handful performances. Based on the standing ovations and frenetic applause after the last scheduled performance on March 1st<\/sup>, 2020, there should be hope for another round in the next season. <\/span><\/p>\n

Die Einleitung auf der Website des Theaters L\u00fcbeck kommt mir sehr bekannt vor (schmunzel):<\/p>\n

Die meisten kennen seinen Namen. Und die, die ihn nicht kennen, haben zumindest \u00bbSuzanne\u00ab im Ohr, das Lied, das ihn weltber\u00fchmt gemacht hat. Oder aber sie kennen seine Songs, interpretiert von K\u00fcnstlern wie Elton John, Johnny Cash, Nick Cave, R.E.M., Jennifer Warnes oder Wolfgang Niedecken.<\/strong> Er ist der letzte gro\u00dfe Poet der Popkultur, der Womanizer mit der tiefen Stimme, der melancholische Songwriter, der ganze Generationen beeinflusst hat, rastlose Seele und schillernde Pers\u00f6nlichkeit zugleich. 2008 wurde er mit Madonna gemeinsam in die Rock and Roll Hall of Fame aufgenommen. Leonard Cohen besingt wie kein anderer die Sch\u00f6nheit und die Abgr\u00fcnde des Lebens: \u00bbWir leiden meistens unter dem Gef\u00fchl der Heimatlosigkeit. Das Problem des Zuhause-Seins ist das alles \u00fcberragende Problem f\u00fcr die Menschen.\u00ab Schauspieldirektor Pit Holzwarth hat nach \u00bbLiebe und Rebellion\u00ab einen melancholischen Liederabend \u00fcber das Schreiben, \u00fcber Abschied und Erleuchtung, Frauen und Hotels, Zigaretten und Liebe, \u00fcber das Scheitern und die Sehnsucht nach der Wahrheit inszeniert. Die besondere literarische Qualit\u00e4t der Texte Leonard Cohens, der mehrere Romane und Gedichtb\u00e4nde ver\u00f6ffentlicht hat, macht seine Popularit\u00e4t aus, die ihn in Amerika und England zum Idol einer \u00bbsinnlichen Revolution\u00ab werden lie\u00df.<\/p>\n
