LANG,\u00a0THE LUMINEERS\u2019 WESLEY SCHULTZ AND JEREMIAH FRAITES, DAMIEN RICE, STING, PATRICK WATSON, ADAM COHEN AND OTHERS TO MARK ANNIVERSARY OF ICON\u2019S PASSING<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Now that production plans are finalized, the Cohen Family is pleased to announce the release of additional tickets for Tower of Song: A Memorial Tribute to Leonard Cohen, to be presented at the Bell Centre in Montreal on Monday, November 6th. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<strong>These tickets will go on sale to the public at noon tomorrow Friday, October 13th at the Bell Centre box office, 1-514-790-2525 or 1-855-310-2525 and\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.evenko.ca\/\"><strong>www.evenko.ca<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The family of Leonard Cohen invites fans from around the world to join them, along with renowned musicians, the Prime Minister of Canada and the Premier of Quebec in celebrating Cohen\u2019s legacy for\u00a0<strong>Tower of Song: A Memorial Tribute to Leonard Cohen<\/strong>\u00a0at the\u00a0<strong>Bell Centre in Montreal on Nov. 6, 2017<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Participating artists include\u00a0<strong>Elvis Costello, Lana Del Rey, Feist, Philip Glass, k.d. lang, The Lumineers\u2019 Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites, Damien Rice, Sting, Patrick Watson, and Adam Cohen<\/strong>, who is also co-producing the event. Additional artists, as well as actors paying homage through spoken word performances, will be announced soon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy father left me with a list of instructions before he passed: \u2018Put me in a pine box next to my mother and father. Have a small memorial for close friends and family in Los Angeles\u2026and if you want a public event do it in Montreal,\u2019\u201d said singer-songwriter\u00a0<strong>Adam Cohen<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cI see this concert as a fulfillment of my duties to my father that we gather in Montreal to ring the bells that still can ring.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Noted record and concert producer\u00a0<strong>Hal Willner<\/strong>\u00a0serves as producer of the event, which will be co-promoted by\u00a0<strong>evenko<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Rubin Fogel Productions<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Live\u00a0Nation \/ Robomagic<\/strong>.\u00a0Emmy nominated and Golden Globe winning director\u00a0<strong>Jack Bender<\/strong>\u00a0(Game of Thrones, Lost, The Sopranos, Mr. Mercedes, etc.) will film the event for an upcoming special.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLeonard Cohen is a literary and musical icon of word-craft,\u201d said\u00a0<strong>Hal Willner<\/strong>. \u201cOn the first anniversary of his passing, we will endeavor to present a tribute to an artist who is universally acknowledged as one of the great poets and songwriters of all time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The event will benefit the\u00a0<em>Canada Council for the Arts, the Council of Arts and Letters of Quebec<\/em>, and the\u00a0<em>Montreal Arts Council<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cProceeds from the event will be shared by several of Canada\u2019s arts organizations in an effort to continue the legacy of great works,\u201d said\u00a0<strong>Robert Kory<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Michelle Rice<\/strong>, Leonard\u2019s managers. \u201cIn fact, Leonard often mentioned the Arts Councils, whom he credited as providing essential support in the early days of his career.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tower of Song<\/strong>\u00a0will mark the first anniversary of Leonard\u2019s passing and commence a week of celebrations honoring Cohen in Montreal. As previously announced, the Mus\u00e9e d\u2019art contemporain de Montr\u00e9al\u2019s new exhibit, \u201cLeonard Cohen: Une br\u00e8che en toute chose \/ A Crack in Everything,&#8220; will open to the public\u00a0<strong>November 9<\/strong>.
