Last week’s broadcast had him playing Cohen’s “So Long, Marianne” and “Bird On The Wire,” as Rolling Stone reports, and this week’s saw him playing “Hey, That’s No Way To Say Goodbye” and the deep cut “Fingerprints,” off Cohen’s 1977 album Death Of A Ladies Man. All of those songs are loosely tied to when Cohen lived on Hydra.

“Fingerprints” is at 15m45s in the first video below, and “Goodbye” is at 32m30s. “Bird” is at 7m46s in the second video, and “Marianne” is at 30m08s.

David Gilmour sang den Leonard Cohen Song „So Long Marianne“, an der Harfe war Romany. Die Moderatorin Mary Beard fragte zuvor noch nach Dabid Gilmours Beziehung zu Leonard Cohen:

David Gilmour: I became a fan very early on. I love his work. This last couple of years with dolly, going to hydra, has freshened him up enormously in my mind.

Polly Samson: (Lacht) Er hat in den letzten Jahren nichts anderes als Leonard Cohen gehört!

David Gilmour: And he got better and better. There are songs all through his career which are so brilliant.

Mary Beard: Gibt es einen Song abgesehen von“Marianne“, den du besonders hervorheben würdest!

David Gilmour: It’s just too many brillant songs. From the very last album that just came out „Thanks for the Dance“ is just a lovley Song. There is a Song called „Going Home“ there are just to many gorgeous songs. If it be your Will. There so many things where he tends towards religious overtones in some other things he does but didn’t claim to believe really in a god.

Mary Beard: One of my friends said it would be king of nice to hear Leonard Cohen singing Wish You Were Here, wouldn’t it?

David Gilmour: To late for that I think!

Sollten #THe_Black_CRowes 2021,  2022, 2023 or whenever nochmal auf Tournee gehen, möchten sie das vor 30 jahren erschienene Album SHAKE YOUR MOENYMAKER in voller Länge spielen.

Jetzt wrde anläßlich zum 30-jährigen Jubiläum des Erstling-Albums, das ALBUM neu aufgelegt. In diesem Fall machen Re-Releases/ Anniversary RE-Issues Sinn, ist aber nicht immer so:

Für knapp 20 Euro (zum VÖ – Ter min) bekommt man auf CD1 das Original-Album, mit dem Hidden-Track LIVE TOO FAST BLUES/MERCY, SWEET MOAN.
Auf CD2 ist eine Reihe von Out-Takes. CHARMING MESS ist das einzige neu eingespielte Stück und ist im wesentlichen Rod Stewarts HOT LEGS, nur mit anderem Text. Von Humple Pie wird der Klassiker 30 DAYS IN THE HOLE gecovert, der damals nur ein einziges Mal live gespielt wurde. Die dritte CD beinhaltet ein 14-Track-Liveset, aufgenommen in Atlanta, Georgia, auf der damaligen Money Maker-Tour. Das Besondere sind hier einige live gespielten Stücke, die es nicht als Studio-Aufnahmen gibt.
