Leonard Cohen`s Grand Tour – Finale in Neuseeland – 5 years ago
Am 21. Dezember 2013 spielte Leonard Cohen in Neuseeland seine letzte Show seiner sogenannten „Grand Tour“ genannten Abschiedstournee. Es war das vierte von vier Konzerten In Neuseeland. Zuvor absolvierte er am 17. und 18. Dezember jeweils ein Konzert in Wellington sowie am 14. Dezember 2013 sein erstes neuseeländisches Konzert während dieser 2013er Grandtournee in Christchurch.
Der letzte Stopp fand in Auckland in der Vector Arena statt, wo er ein dreistündiges Set spielte.
„Und als das letzte Lied zu Ende war, nahm die Musiklegende den Hut ab, verbeugte sich und ging in die Dunkelheit. Das war seine letzte Show überhaupt“, schrieb der NEW ZEALAND HERALD.
Cohen, beendete sein letztes Set in Auckland/ Neuseeland mit einer aus zwei Songs bestehenden Zugabe: „I Tried Tio Leave“ und einem Cover des Drifters-Song „Save the Last Dance for Me“.
Als er die Bühne für immer verließ sagte er: „Friends, I want to thank you for the wonderful hospitality you’ve showed us tonight. I want to thank you not just for tonight, but for all the years you’ve paid attention to my songs. I really appreciate it.“
