TORONTO (March 27, 2017) – CTV and The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) announced details today for a special tribute performance in honour of legendary songwriter, musician, and poet Leonard Cohen as part of Sunday’s broadcast of THE 2017 JUNO AWARDS. Multi-JUNO Award and Polaris Music Prize winner Feist is set to take the stage to perform a moving arrangement of one of Cohen’s classic songs honouring the esteemed late musician. Co-hosted by iconic rocker Bryan Adams and megastar comedian Russell Peters, Canada’s most exciting night in music airs live in 4K from the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa on CTV and CTV GO on Sunday, April 2 at 6:30 p.m. ET (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times).

With a musical career that spanned nearly five decades, Cohen has been hailed by critics and fellow musicians alike as one of the most iconic artists of the 20th century. A poet in his early career, the native Montréaler released his first of 14 studio albums, Songs of Leonard Cohen, in 1967 at the age of 33. His signature gravelly baritone, married with the succinctness of his sage, bohemian language, quickly identified him as a master lyricist.

Widely admired, his new and old masterpieces include timeless and enigmatic hits such as “Suzanne”, “Bird on the Wire”, “Everybody Knows”, “First We Take Manhattan”, “Closing Time”, and “Hallelujah”.

More than 2,000 recordings of Leonard Cohen’s songs have been made by artists that range from Elton John, U2, Jeff Buckley, to Aretha Franklin. And from Bob Dylan to Justin Timberlake, more than 200 artists have sung or recorded the now iconic “Hallelujah” since Cohen’s original recording in 1984, including breathtaking performances by k.d. lang at THE 2005 JUNO AWARDS in Winnipeg, and the Opening Ceremonies of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics Games.

A Companion of the Order of Canada, Cohen was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, the U.S. Songwriters Hall of Fame, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Folk Music Walk of Fame. In addition to his six JUNO Awards, and numerous other honours across his prolific career, Cohen was also awarded the Glenn Gould Prize, the Principe de Asturias Prize, a PEN New England/Lyrics Award, as well as a Lifetime Achievement Award at The Grammys. His final studio album, You Want It Darker, was released in October, before his death the following month. With more than 27 million albums sold worldwide and 12 published books, Cohen’s stunning body of original work remains an inspirational legacy to generations of artists and fans around the world.

KW-13-2017: Rock Meets Classic 2017 – Gestern war Tourstart in Trier … oder LEONARD COHEN und … Don Felder … von den THE EAGLES.

Seit 2010 begeistert „Rock Meets Classic“ in Deutschland und bringt immer wieder einige der renommiertesten Musiker des Rock-Genres zusammen, die gemeinsam ein gigantisches Musikspektakel abliefern. Den musikalischen Background für die größten Hits der Rockmusik liefern auch 2017 wieder die etatmäßige Mat Sinner Band und das Original „Rock Meets Classic“-Orchester.

Schon zum achten Mal zieht „Rock Meets Classic“ im März und April 2017 durch die großen Arenen des Landes und hat dabei wieder ein paar echte Koryphäen des Rocks als Gastsänger mit an Bord. KW-13-2017: Heute erscheint Bob Dylans Neues Album: „Tripilicate“, das erste Dreifach-Studioalbum

Heute, am 31. März erscheint mit „Tripilicate“ das erste Dreifach-Studioalbum von Bob Dylan.

Das Album enthält dreißig neue Aufnahmen von Songs aus dem American Songbook. Jedes der Alben enthält unter einem separaten Titel eine Sequenz von zehn Stücken, die von einigen der einflussreichsten und wichtigsten Songwritern der Musikgeschichte stammen. Das 38. Bob Dylan-Album wurde von Jack Frost produziert und ist die erste neue Musik seit dem Album „Fallen Angels“, das Anfang 2016 erschien und das Platz sieben der deutschen und US-amerikanischen, sowie Platz fünf der britischen Charts erreichte.
„Triplicate“ erscheint als Dreifach-CD, Dreifach-Vinyl und limitierte Dreifach-Deluxe-Vinyl-Edition in einer nummerierten Box.

Im vergangenen Sommer haben Rammstein mit ihrer einzigartigen Bühnenshow wieder Hunderttausende Fans auf der ganzen Welt begeistert und einmal mehr bewiesen, dass sie national und international zu den populärsten Bands überhaupt gehören. Vom 2.-6. Juni 2017 treten Sie als Headliner beim ROCK AM RING-Festival auf.

Im Frühjahr 2017 geben Rammstein nun eine Zugabe: In exklusiven Vorführungen werden sie am 23., 24. und 29. März mit RAMMSTEIN: PARIS bundesweit in den deutschen Kinos zu sehen und in Dolby-Atmos-Sound (in ausgewählten Kinos) in Live-Qualität zu erleben sein.

Zum Film: Ein Konzert der Band Rammstein auf Film zu bringen, ist eine außerordentlich schwierige Aufgabe. Den gewaltigen Sound, die Menge an visuellen Eindrücken, die Details und großen Gesten so einzufangen, dass auch die Kinozuschauer die Rammstein-Experience nachempfinden können: Wer das schaffen will, muss einerseits die unmittelbare Nähe zum Bühnengeschehen vermitteln, andererseits den Blick aus der Totalen, drittens die Aufregung des Dabeiseins – und die Musik muss brachial gut klingen.

Der Konzertfilm RAMMSTEIN: PARIS setzt hier einen neuen Maßstab. Während der „Made in Germany“-Tour drehte der gefeierte schwedische Regisseur Jonas Åkerlund im März 2012 bei zwei umjubelten Rammstein-Konzerten, die vor jeweils 17.000 Zuschauern im Bercy/ Paris stattfanden. Der Film, der daraus entstanden ist, ist (mit 16 Songs aus dem gesamten Repertoire) nicht nur das bislang spektakulärste Bilddokument über die derzeit größte deutsche Rock-’n’-Roll-Band – er ist ein Meisterwerk des Musikkinos, die die Energie von Rammstein in ein einmaliges visuelles und sonisches Erlebnis fasst.

Mit seiner unkonventionellen Erzählweise und seinem markanten, von starken Bildern geprägten Stil hat sich Jonas Åkerlund den Ruf eines Regisseurs erworben, der es immer wieder aufs Neue schafft, zu überraschen und zu provozieren. Das schwedische Multitalent – neben Werbespots und zahlreichen Musikvideos hat er auch eine Reihe von Dokumentar- und Konzertfilmen sowie mehrere Spielfilme gedreht und einige viel beachtete Bühnenshows inszeniert – wurde für seine Werke bereits vielfach ausgezeichnet. Als einer der international gefragtesten Musikvideoregisseure hat Jonas schon mit Rock- und Pop-Größen wie Madonna, Lady Gaga, U2, The Rolling Stones, Beyoncé, Paul McCartney, Ozzy Osbourne, Robbie Williams, The Smashing Pumpkins, Lenny Kravitz und Maroon 5 zusammengearbeitet, um nur einige zu nennen.

Seinen ersten Spielfilm drehte Jonas 2001 – „Spun“ mit Jason Schwartzman, Brittany Murphy, Mena Suvari und Mickey Rourke, der mittlerweile zum Kultfilm avanciert ist. Nach dem 2012 erschienenen „Small Apartments“ arbeitet er zurzeit an seinem dritten Spielfilm, „Lords of Chaos“, mit Emory Cohen, Rory Culkin, Jack Kilmer und Sky Ferreira in den Hauptrollen.

Mit Rammstein arbeitete Jonas Åkerlund erstmals 2005 am Musikvideo „Mann gegen Mann“ zusammen. Darauf folgten die Zusammenarbeit an „Ich tu dir weh“ und dem kontroversen „Pussy“ (beide 2009).

Zu Rammstein: Die Band Rammstein hat in den bislang 22 Jahren ihres Bestehens mehr als 16 Millionen Platten verkauft, unter anderem zehn Echo-Awards und zwei Grammy-Nominierungen erhalten. Sie spielen seit Mitte der 1990er-Jahre in den weltweit größten Arenen, obwohl sie weiter nur auf Deutsch singen. Seit 1997 waren alle ihre Alben mindestens in der Heimat auf Nummer eins der Charts, Regisseure wie David Lynch und Lars von Trier haben Rammstein-Songs in ihre Filme gesetzt und 2006 wurde sogar ein Asteroid nach ihnen benannt.

So unendlich viele Musiker, Künsrler, Singer/ Songwritwr sind in den letzten Jahren rund um das Lebensalter „70 Jahre“ gegangen. Aber es muss nicht immer der Tod sein, wenn man über „70jährige“ Singer/ Songwriter berichtet.

Fünf Pop-Jahrzehnte wie aus einem Guss und er liebt das Barocke, das Überladene, Brillen, schrille Verkleidungen und sein Klavier. Elton John geht den Weg des elder statesman der Popmusik und immer wieder auch auf Tournee.

Zu Beginn seiner Karriere lachten sie ihn angesichts seines Watschelgangs aus, dann lachte er durch seine ausgefallenen Brillen und schrillen Kostüme zurück. Nur kurze Zeit später lagen ihm die Fans dank seiner genialen Songkompositionen zu Füssen.

Wo andere Künstler ihre Musik live mit ausgefeilten Bühnenshows und Choreo-

graphien unterfüttern müssen, reicht Elton John ein Klavier aus. In schlichtem aber edlem schwarzen Anzug gibt sich John mittlerweile mehr als musikalischer ,,elder statesman” denn

als Pop-Diva. Aus dem einstigen ,,Klaviermonster” und ,,Rocket Man” ist eben längst

ein virtuoser aber geläuteterter Musiker geworden. Mit knapp 30 Songs zieht der Pop-Pianist auf seiner jetzigen Tournee geradezu Bilanz seiner über 30jährigen Karriere. Mal romantisch, melancholisch, mal enthusiastisch, rockig. Und mit Songs wie z.B. ,,I guess that`s why they call the blues”, ,,The one”, ,,Nikita” oder ,,Crocodile rock” zeigt er, warum zu den grössten Rockpianisten der 70er bis 90er Jahre zählt. Allein am edel glänzenden Flügel im Licht eines einzigen Scheinwerfers demonstriert Elton John am liebsten, warum seine Songs längst Klassik-Charakter wie die eines George Gershwin oder Cole Porter haben.

Es ist die Balance zwischen Kitsch und Kunst, die Harmonie zwischen einfachen aber genialen

Kompositionen und sein virtuoses Klavierspiel, das er sitzend, stehend, knieend oder gar unter

dem Instrument liegend geradezu blind beherrscht. Egal, ob Pop, Boogie oder Jazz, wuchtigen Stakkatos oder balladesken Fortes, Elton John fühlt sich dank seiner wandlungsfähigen Stimme und seinem Gefühl für aussergewöhnliche Interpretationen in allen Genres wohl.

Cohen traf Elton John dabei nicht persönlich. Sie schicktenm sich die Aufnahmen gegenseitig zu und übersangen die jeweiligen Tonspuren.
