By 1978 Leonard Cohen had already produced a staggering body of work that had firmly set the Standard for the singer-songwriter genre and contained numerous classic songs within its canon. If, like many of his contemporaries, his muse had abandoned him around this time, he would still today be regarded äs a genius. But the 6 Studio albums released between then and 2006 contained some of the finest work of Cohen’s entire career and on tracks such äs ‚First We Take Manhattan‘, ‚Dance Me To The End Of Love‘, ‚The Future‘, I’m Your Man‘, ‚Ain’t No Cure For Love‘, ‚Tower Of Song‘ and so many others, he augmented his music with a philosophy, wisdom and enlightenment that both delighted his existing fanbase and endeared him to new generations in a manner that few others could hope to achieve. Die junge Seele des Fado präsentiert ihr drittes Album
CARMINHO ist gerade einmal 31 Jahre alt, aber sie singt den Fado, als hätte sie die tiefe Sehnsucht und die bittersüßen Freuden des Lebens schon in aller Tiefe durchschritten. Denn der Fado ist mehr als nur eine Musikrichtung – er ist ein Lebensgefühl und eine emotionale Weisheit. Das ganze Leben in einem Lied – auch dies ein Grund, warum CARMINHO ihr drittes Album schlicht Canto – Lied – genannt hat.

Die junge Fadista CARMINHO gilt schon seit ihrem mit Platin ausgezeichneten Debütalbum Fado (2009) als musikalische Offenbarung, und so nannte das Time Out Magazine das Album “das beeindruckendste Fado-Debüt in Jahrzehnten”. Mit dem Nachfolger Alma kam dann auch der internationale Durchbruch: Nach einem Platz 1 in den portugiesischen Albumcharts, in denen es sich volle zwei Jahre hielt, und einer Top-5-Platzierung in den spanischen iTunes-Charts trat CARMINHO ihre Reise nach Brasilien an, wo die Portugiesin auf offene Ohren traf und stürmisch gefeiert wurde. Caetano Veloso nannte sie “ein Wunder”, und Chico Buarque und Milton Nascimento luden sie zu Gastauftritten und gemeinsamen Aufnahmen ein.

Trotz dieser überwältigenden Erfolge ist die junge Sängerin auf dem Boden geblieben, und so nahm sie auch ihr drittes Album mit ihrem langjährigen musikalischen Begleiter und Stammproduzenten Diogo Clemente auf. Überdies konnte sie eine ganze Reihe prominente Gäste empfangen, etwa den brasilianischen Percussionisten Nana Vasconcelos, den aus Rio de Janeiro stammenden Cellisten Jaques Morelenbaum, den Gitarristen Javier Limón aus Madrid und den Multiinstrumentalisten Carlinhos Brown. Caetano Veloso schrieb für CARMINHO den Text zu O sol, Eu e Tu, und die brasilianische Starsängerin Marisa Monte übergab ihr ihren neuen Song Chuva No Mar, auf dem die beiden außergewöhnlichen Stimmen im Duett zu hören sind.
