KW-45-2022: Gestern am 7.11.2022 beendete Bob Dylan in Dublin die erste Europatournee nach/ während der Pandemie im Rahmen seiner „ROUGH AND ROWDY WAYS TOUR 2021 – 2024“ – Die Setlist blieb unverändert .

After the Band Introductions 0:00 last night in Dublin, Ireland Bob Dylan made a Shoutout to Shane MacGowan 0:35 (who was in the audience): “I want to say hello to Shane MacGowan out there. He’s one of our favourite artists and we hope he makes another record soon. Fairytale of New York means a lot to us. We play it every Christmas.” [Shane later tweeted back to Bob: „Thank you 🙏 @bobdylan“ via https://twitter.com/shanemacgowan/sta…] Then Bob played the last song of the final show of his first Rough and Rowdy Ways European tour: Every Grain Of Sand 0:58.

KW-45-2022: „The next Song is dedicated to Leonard Cohen“, sagte Steve Hogarth, Frontmann von MARILLION vor dem „Liebeslied“ an Leonard Cohen, wie Hogarth den Song „The Crow And The Nightingale“ beschreibt. Am 7.11.2022 spielten Marillion in Frankfurt a.M./ Germany – Am 7.11.2022 jährte sich der Todestag von Leonard Cohen zum sechsten Mal. – “The next song is dedicated to Leonard Cohen …“ said Steve Hogarth before he starts with the song “The Crow And The Nightingale” – A Lovesong to Canadian Rockpoet Leonard Cohen, live performed in Frankfurt/ Germany on 7th of November 2022 . It was the sixth anniversary of Leonard Cohen’s death.

KW-45-2022: An Hour Before It’s Dark in Stuttgart – Marillion beim Deutschlandtourstart in der Liederhalle am vergangenen Donnerstag, 3.11.22 – von Christof Graf

#MARILLION sind ein Kunstwerk, ein Feuerwerk aus Sound, Licht & Videoelementen. Marillion-Shows sind voller voller Emotionen und stets etwas Besonderes ! Besonders bravourös: Sie können spontan ein großes Live Repertoire abrufen und damit die Setlisten jeden Abend ändern. Im März 2022 erschien ihr 20stes Studioalbum mit dem sehr zeitgemäßen Titel: „An Hour Before It´s Dark“, das zu Recht weltweites Kritikerlob erhielt und durch den Europa-Krieg geradezu eine neue zusätzliche nunmehr dritte Dimension der Interpretation des Albumtitels bekommt. So war es logisch, daß 2022 das aktuelle Album „An Hour Before Ist Dark“ im Mittelpunkt der knapp zweieinhalb stündigen Show steht und mit dem gleichnamigen Opener-Song begann.

Danach beweisen MARILLION, daß sie eine Band sind, die sich nach dem Abgang von Fish neu erfunden und ihren neuen Weg mit Steve Hogarth konsequent bis heute fortgesetzt haben. MARILLION haben in jeder Dekade ein herausragendes Album veröffentlicht. In den 80ern war das „Misplaced Childhood“ (mitz Fish) und mit Steve Hogarth in den 90er  „Brave“. 2004 folgte „Marbles“, gefolgt von „F.E.A.R.“ im Jahr 2016.

Steve Hogarth, ist wahrlich ein Bühnen-Monster, der mit seinem einzigartigem Gesang, seiner Energie und Power das Stuttgarter Publikum in seinen Bann zog. Mal nur mit Mikro, mal mit Gitarre, mal an den Percussion oder am Mini-Keyboard, seine Mimik und Gestik lässt nie Raum für Unspannung. Nach dem Song „Murder Machines”, leitet er mit den Worten “The next Song is dedicated to Leonard Cohen“ das Liebeslied von Marillion an den kanadischen Rockpoeten ein: „The Crow and the Nightingale“.

Zwei Zugaben spielen Marillion in Stuttgart vor knapp 3000 Zuschauern und zeigen: MARILLION scheinen sich an ihrem kreativen Höhepunkt zu befinden und sind noch hungrig ihre bis zu 17 Minuten langen Songs dem Publikum in einer unglaublichen Perfektion zu präsentieren.

Die „The Light at the End of the Tunnel“-Tour kann so weitergehen. Am Montag spielen sie z.B. in Frankfurt a.M.

The Philosophy of Modern Song is Bob Dylan’s first book of new writing since 2004’s Chronicles: Volume One – and since winning the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2016.

Dylan, who began working on the book in 2010, offers a masterclass on the art and craft of songwriting. He writes over 60 essays focusing on songs by other artists, spanning from Stephen Foster to Elvis Costello, and in between ranging from Hank Williams to Nina Simone. He analyses what he calls the trap of easy rhymes, breaks down how the addition of a single syllable can diminish a song and even explains how bluegrass relates to heavy metal. These essays are written in Dylan’s unique prose. They are mysterious and mercurial, poignant and profound, and often laugh-out-loud funny. And while they are ostensibly about music, they are really meditations and reflections on the human condition. Running throughout the book are nearly 150 carefully curated photos as well as a series of dream-like riffs that, taken together, resemble an epic poem and add to the work’s transcendence.

In 2020, with the release of his outstanding album Rough and Rowdy Ways, Dylan became the first artist to have an album hit the Billboard Top 40 in each decade since the 1960s. The Philosophy of Modern Song contains much of what he has learned about his craft in all those years and, like everything that Dylan does, it is a momentous artistic achievement.
