Walking Montreal’s Streets – Searching for Cohen-Related Places – Vol. 9: “Everybody Knows” – The Concert in Montreal 2026 – Evening 1
Rue St. Denis, Théâtre St. Denis, November 4th: Ten years after the passing of Leonard Cohen on November 7, 2016, and nine years after the “Tower of Song” tribute festival at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Leonard Cohen’s son, Adam, hosted another memorial concert for his late father—titled “Everybody Knows Leonard Cohen”—at Montreal’s Théâtre St. Denis on November 4, 2026. At exactly 8:00 p.m., Adam Cohen opened the approximately 100-minute concert with an acoustic version of “Dance Me to the End of Love,” followed by a dozen other Cohen classics. The show nearly concluded after “So Long Marianne.” Adam Cohen—accompanied by a four-piece band—had previously announced that he would not be performing “Hallelujah”; however, the song was ultimately delivered by special guests Rufus Wainwright and Martha Wainwright. During the encore, Adam Cohen—joined by his son, Cassius Cohen, on bass—took requests from the audience, including “Avalanche,” “Coming Back to You,” and “Chelsea Hotel” (the latter featuring Rufus Wainwright once again), among others.
