Sometimes when you grow close to an artist’s music, it feels as if you grow close to the artist.
l remember exactly where l was when l found out that he passed away. l vividly recall reading the headline and cross-referencing it with numerous other articles until l truly and finally believed it. l was in shock. l was devastated. l felt as if l had lost a friend – a friend who had consoled me in times of sorrow; a friend whom l had confided in; a friend who knew my secrets, my feelings, my deepest desires.
Over the years l’ve found myself returning, time and time again, to his music, and now, after hours of arranging, composing, rehearsing, and time in the Studio, l’ve finally recorded my interpretations of his genius works. l present this album as an inspired and loving tribute, and as an eternal thank you to the one and only Leonard Cohen.

September folgenden Album mit dem bezeichnenden Titel Immortal ( Unsterblich ) über BMG. Auf dem Album sind zehn stilistisch völlig unterschiedliche Songs zu finden, auf denen sich Ann vor ihren kürzlich verstorbenen Musikerfreunden verneigt, um deren einflussreiches Erbe lebendig zu halten.
Mit Immortal betritt Ann Wilson diverse stilistische, Highlight gespickte Territorien. So spannt sich der Bogen von Leonard Cohen ( A Thousand Kisses Deep ) über Amy Winehouse ( Back To Black ), David Bowie ( I`m Afraid Of Americans ) und Lesley Gore ( You Don`t Owe Me ) bis hin zu Tom Petty ( Luna ). Die Auswahlkriterien für die Stücke hätten laut Ann nicht einfacher sein können: Am wichtigsten war, dass ich sie liebte. Es mussten Songs sein, in die ich mich als Sängerin glaubhaft hineinversetzen konnte. Obwohl die Lyrics eine wichtige Rollen spielen, achte ich am meisten auf das harmonische Zusammenspiel aus Text und Melodie nur dann entsteht etwas Magisches.
